Circuit Equations
Using nondimensionalised variables, Chua's circuit can be modelled by:
dx/dt = α (y − x − f(x)) dy/dt = x − y + z dz/dt = −β y
Where f(x) is Chua's piecewise-linear nonlinear resistor.
Parameters
- α = 15.6
- β = 28
- m0 = –1.143, m1 = –0.714 (slope of piecewise segments)
How to Use the Demo
- Click Reset in the gallery to randomise the starting point.
- The canvas plots 50 integration steps per frame for a smooth trace.
- Colours rotate through the hue wheel, creating a neon ribbon effect.
Why It Matters
Chua's circuit is one of the simplest physical systems capable of true chaos, making it a staple in chaos theory research and education.
